When Dröm UK were approached to design a private spa facility for a private client, it was clear from the design brief that it had to be special. Specific requirements included an infra sauna, a salt room and heated loungers.

Infra panels were introduced into the main sauna room to make it into a multi-purpose room. The bather can either use the infra on its own, use the room as a traditional Finnish sauna with an exposed heater, or use both at the same time.

The sauna walls and ceiling are clad with large format cedar panels with dark wood inlays. The floating benches are medium Aspen and there are 3 infra panels mounted into the backrest. The ergonomical backrests can each be adjusted independently. The heat for the infra panels is controlled by a ‘dimmer’ type switch on the wall. The fibre optic perimeter lighting is recessed into a lighting trough and there is a fibre optic starry sky inset into the ceiling. The room is heated with an EOS Finnrock heater with a large rock capacity and is finished with a white quartzite feature wall.

The Salt Room has two freestanding Sommerhuber ceramic heated loungers with integrated LED strip lighting underneath. There are also LED downlights for reading above each lounger and there are individual thermostatic controllers for each bench to adjust the temperature.  The backlit salt wall is constructed of white salt bricks with RGB LED strip lights.  There is an automated salt injection system (with an override button) which is perfect for a ‘drier’ salt experience. The room has a white tadelakt plaster finish to the walls and ceiling.

Both rooms have warm white LED uplights to the floor and frameless smoked grey tinted glass frontages, chrome finish handles and hinges to the doors.
